Our Inspiration

On the 27th August 1993 Rushcliffe Country Park was opened on the former site of an MOD depot. Workers and volunteers had planted over 140,000 thousand trees and major landscaping, including a lake, had been completed. It was still rather barren at that time and must have been quite overwhelming to the small permanent staff. Volunteers from Ruddington and surrounding villages formed a group who were inspired by this large immature park to help with the development of the park for the benefit of wildlife and visitors. The Friends of Rushcliffe Country Park became a registered charity in October 1999.

Our aims are:

To help create and maintain habitats and carry out conservation work.

To help improve and maintain the park for vistors.

To learn and share knowledge about wildlife and nature

And of course, to do all this in a friendly and very social environment supporting the park manager and rangers.

We are proud to be recognised by the Queen's Award for Voluntary Service which was granted in October 2012.

Since 2007 Rushcliffe Country Park has been been given the Green Flag Award and we are proud that our contribution is recognised on the Green Flag website.
